Trailblazing

First new route of the "campaign"!

Winston and I went out for "at least 5 miles" yesterday afternoon, and ended up following our noses on to a pretty new route of 9.5 miles, which knocks the stuffing out of the Long Dark Teatime of the Soul that was the bread and butter of last year's running. The route takes you down Bottisham Lode to Lode and up Mill St to Lode Mill. Instead of heading west again to cross the disused railway, you take a left to follow the mill race down to Stow cum Quy. From there we were really making it up (we optimistically thought Stow was Horningsea as we approached it) and heading as directly as we could for home, but there are some great opportunities to use that Stow-Lode bit to lengthen out a Long Dogs or some such.

As for the running - felt great. It was pretty cold, and even with a fleece top and leggings Winst started to get really chilly. We'd both recovered by 7.30pm in time to knock back several excellent ales at his place. Excellent!
